How to Restart Your LG TV
Any IT specialist will tell you that restarting a computer can solve 99% of software problems. This same logic applies to your LG TV as well!
With a Remote
Rebooting your LG TV with a remote is as simple as pressing the TV remote’s Power button once before waiting for it to shut down. Then, press the Power button once more to turn it back on.
Without a Remote
Restarting your TV without a remote may seem complicated, but it couldn’t be easier. All you’ll need to use is the TV control panel’s Power button.
Step 1: Locate your TV’s Power button on the back or bottom of the unit. Press it once to open the Quick Menu bar.
Step 2: Then, long-press the Power button to turn the TV off.
Step 3: Wait a few seconds for the software to completely shut down before pressing the Power button to turn the TV back on again.
How to Soft Reset Your LG TV
Residual power can cause your once perfectly functional TV to start exhibiting some unorthodox behaviors like crashing, and visual and audio problems. Soft resetting or power cycling will safely drain your TV of this residual electricity without removing any personal information or apps.
With a Remote
Follow the instructions below to soft reset your LG TV using its remote in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Turn your TV off by hitting the remote’s Power key.
Step 2: Unplug the TV’s power cable from its wall socket for at least 30 seconds. If you’re using a power strip, simply turning it off will not suffice. For the best results, press the TV control panel’s Power button to drain the unit of all electricity.
Step 3: Plug the TV back into power and press the remote’s Power button to turn it back on.
Without a Remote
Soft resetting a TV is a very simple process that can easily be done without a remote by following the steps below.
Step 1: Find and press your LG TV’s Power button on the back or bottom of your TV. When you see the Quick Settings bar on-screen, long-press the Power button to turn the TV off.
Step 2: Unplug the power cable from its electrical socket for at least 30 seconds and, if you can, press the TV’s Power button to ensure all residual power has been drained.
Step 3: Reconnect the TV to a wall outlet and hit the TV’s Power button to turn it on.
How to Factory Reset Your LG TV
Your LG TV has gone completely haywire, and you’ve come to the conclusion that it needs a fresh start by way of a factory reset.
Unfortunately, this process can only be done using your TV remote, as you’ll need to navigate your TV’s Settings menu.
For model-specific instructions, refer to the LG guide here, or for webOS 6.0 models, follow the steps below to factory reset your LG TV.
Step 1: Open the Settings menu and go to All Settings.
Step 2: Navigate to General.
Step 3: Head to System, and click on Reset to Initial Settings.
Step 4: Choose OK to start the factory reset process.
You’ve Forgotten Your LG TV’s PIN Code/Password? Here’s How to Reset It
Your LG TV may ask for a PIN when disabling or altering certain settings, especially those related to parental controls. This PIN ensures your sneaky kid won’t be able to easily turn off this feature to watch rated-R content.
However, many parents forget this PIN when trying to disable this function.
Don’t worry. You can easily reset this PIN and create a new one by following the instructions below.
Step 1: Launch the Settings menu, and navigate to All Settings.
Step 2: Head to General.
Step 3: Go to System, and open Safety.
Step 4: Press the following sequence of buttons on your remote to open the Master PIN screen: Channel Up twice, Channel Down, then Channel Up.
Step 5: On the Master PIN page, enter 0313.
Step 6: Head to Reset Password and enter 0000.
Step 7: From here, you can set a new PIN code.
Wrapping Things Up
LG TVs can be restarted or soft reset both with and without their remote! All LG TVs have a Power button on them which can be used to complete simple tasks, like turning them on/off and draining them of residual power.
Unfortunately, you will need to use your remote to factory reset your LG TV. So, if you really do need to wipe your TV, I suggest connecting it to a universal remote to do so. These remotes are inexpensive and will allow you to perform basic tasks like navigating the TV settings.

I definitely have an older OS because my menu is much different than the one in your visuals.
I was wondering if either of you happen to know of other standard codes to unlock the OS? If not, do you happen to know of a real hard reset? The kind that requires a safety-pin to stick in a hole… or the like.
