How To Control Your Soundbar With a Streaming Device’s Remote?
Whether you’re using a Roku player, Apple TV, Fire TV, or Chromecast with Google TV, you can easily adjust your soundbar’s volume and mute/unmute with just a few clicks of your remote.
For example, we can control the volume of our LG SN8Y Soundbar using a streaming device remote such as Roku, Fire TV Stick, or Chromecast.
We don’t even have to connect the streaming device to the TV to make it work.
Simply point the streaming device remote to our soundbar above and adjust the volume.
We recommend trying the above solution to see if it works with your soundbar.
But what if your soundbar doesn’t allow for easy control through your streaming device’s remote?
No worries, we’ve got you covered.
Step 1: First, you’ll need to activate the HDMI-CEC feature on your TV to allow the streaming device’s remote to control both your TV and soundbar.
Step 2: Then connect your TV to the soundbar.
To do this, connect the two using the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel). HDMI ARC allows audio to be sent from the TV back to the soundbar through a single HDMI cable, eliminating the need for multiple cables and making setup easier.
Ensure that both your TV and soundbar support HDMI ARC. Once you have confirmed this, you can connect the HDMI cable to the ARC-enabled HDMI port on your TV and the corresponding HDMI port on your soundbar.
Also, enable the HDMI ARC function on both your TV and soundbar. This can typically be done through the settings menu on your TV and soundbar.

Step 3: Finally, connect your streaming device to your TV using an HDMI cable unless you have a Roku stick or Fire TV stick. These can be plugged directly into your TV.
Now, try using your streaming device remote to control the soundbar volume.
You Can Use Your TV’s Remote To Control Your Soundbar
In addition to using a streaming device’s remote to control your soundbar, there is another way to adjust the volume and settings of your soundbar.
If your soundbar is connected to your TV using HDMI-CEC, you can also use your TV’s remote to control the soundbar’s volume and settings.
First, make sure you have connected your soundbar to your TV using HDMI ARC as described above.
Once you’ve got your soundbar and TV connected, it’s time to enable HDMI-CEC. This feature allows your TV’s remote to control your soundbar, and it’s often automatically enabled when you connect two devices via HDMI ports.
With HDMI-CEC enabled and your soundbar and TV properly connected, you’re ready to start controlling your soundbar with your TV’s remote. It’s that easy!
To Sum Up
We’ve covered three solutions to help you control your soundbar with ease.
First, you can control your soundbar using your streaming device’s remote without connecting the device to the TV. This is possible with certain soundbars that allow for easy control through your streaming device’s remote.
Second, you can connect your streaming device to your TV using an HDMI cable and control your soundbar through the TV. This method requires HDMI-CEC and HDMI ARC support on both the TV and soundbar.
Finally, you can use your TV’s remote to control your soundbar’s volume and settings if your soundbar is connected to your TV using HDMI-CEC and HDMI ARC.
By following these three solutions, you can take control of your soundbar and enjoy a seamless streaming experience.
